The New Tigers get ready for their “Flight To Earth”

The new single arrives on the the 12th June via Soliti

The New Tigers next album is in the works – evidenced by late last year’s well received  twofer “Off The Wall” b/w “Butterfly”. Now the band return with another taste – the richly textured delight that is “Flight To Earth”

”Some years ago in a clothing store fitting room I heard a great song from the store PA. I had no way of identifying the song, so once I got home I tried to come up with something that would have that same vibe. That is the origin of this song. Much later I found out what the original song was, and luckily it doesn’t resemble this one at all” says Valtteri Virtanen

“Flight to Earth” is one of funkiest tunes in the new set of songs with hints of electro, containing lots of wild synthesizers, phased guitars and a steady beat. Just simple lines, intertwining… A new album will follow in the autumn of 2026!

The next New Tigers live show is at Kirkkopuiston Terassi, Turku, on 16th of June, 7pm. Free entry!

Reaction to “Off The Wall” b/w “Butterfly”

“…they embrace a lighter side of guitar pop, though they’re careful to include a driving enthusiasm that bleeds through the distorted riff work. ” Austin Town Hall

“The lead track is robust and best played loud, while the second song shimmers with no percussion and the guitars taking the front of the stage. We think these songs are among the band’s best work.” WYMA

“….they are a band with many hidden gems that always deliver songs that resonate with listeners.” Niche Music

“These two tracks are a catchy foray into indie rock/pop, sounding not unlike The Bluetones with just a hint of what Teenage Fanclub might have produced during their heyday. All semi fuzz guitars and delightful melodies, and there is nothing wrong with that, let me tell you. ” Monolith Cocktail

“«Off The Wall’ functions as a musical reminder that moments of clarity can arrive even when we least expect them, offering a sonic space for optimistic reflection.” Rmas

“It’s good!” Rumba

““Off The Wall” previews their new album, due out in 2026, and showcases the band in inspired form, capable of transforming complex emotions into an introspective and vibrant anthem.” Oleada Indie

“”Off The Wall”, a song that feels so good in a space and even though it can be complicated for many, the band seeks to motivate us to see the good side of things and improve with one another.” Zona Emergente

“‘Off The Wall’, is brimming with nostalgia and fond memories. It’s somewhere between Death Cab For Cutie and The Decemberists.” We Love That Sound

The New Tigers by Appu Jasu

The New Tigers is a fuzzy pop group from Finland. The band was founded in 2006 in order to play noisy yet melodic freewheeling pop music. Some people have described the band’s sound similar to Yo La Tengo, Jonathan Richman and Teenage Fanclub, yet in the same sentence underlined the band’s quirky originality.

The New Tigers have released three albums with a fourth on the way, and have played live in the UK, Spain, Belgium and Scandinavia, among others. The band has gained a reputation as a fun, adventurous and slightly chaotic live act.

The New Tigers consist of Appu Jasu (vocals/keyboard/guitar), Valtteri Virtanen (vocals/guitar), Janne Kauppinen (bass) and Niko Kivikangas (drums)

The band is located in the west coast seaside town of Turku.
