The third long play from the band is released on 15th May 2026

Ever since the 16-year-old high school friends formed a band back in 2013, Ghosts on TV has brought beauty and wistfulness to the Finnish alternative scene, evolving from a promising indie band to blissful walls of sound, melancholic minimalism and delicate atmosphere. The Helsinki-based group has been described as “post-rock”, “beautiful shoegaze” or “northern art-rock”, in the biggest music media of Finland and in blogs around the world. Drawing comparisons to bands like Radiohead, GY!BE, Mogwai and The National, Ghosts on TV has stood out from their Finnish contemporaries, doing proudly their own thing while touring actively in Finland and a couple of times abroad (USA, Europe). The group now announces their anticipated, forthcoming third studio album Iridescent.

“The starting point for Iridescent might have been a need to focus a bit more on the quieter and more spacious side of our band. In the long process leading up to this we experimented freely, threw a lot of completely finished songs away, carried some of the songs patiently with us and still at the very last stages gave space for new ideas. All while keeping up our usual active pace of playing live shows. There were of course difficulties as well, but in the end the result was born from the most inspiring state possible, from the merging of the different strengths of a six-member band.”

Initial reaction

Viikon Levy at Radio Helsinki “”Ghosts on TV, a post-rock band consisting of members of Moshimoshi and Oakahtoakseh, among others, conquers more prog-ish territory with their new album, leaning heavily on the band’s characteristic art and math-rock influences”

Joona and Aaro from Ghosts on TV  were interviewed at Radio Helsinki by Njassa (listen)

“Iridescent represents Ghosts on TV’s most mature and carefully considered vision of pop, art-rock and heavy walls of sound. New territories were conquered through Aaro Tirronen’s love for jangle and prog, Anttoni Hill’s fondness for acoustic minimalism or Ossi Björn’s taste for dramatic indie rock. With everything passing through the so-called “GoTV filter.” While the two previous releases were largely built around the raw live energy of post-rock, the new material was recorded track by track. This also allowed a bigger role in the arrangements and recording for our trusted producer and friend Alec Havinmaa, who works like a seventh member.”

Our friends at Kurvad uudised records will be releasing the vinyl edition of Iridescent album. Pre-orders are open for the vinyl – especially appetising is the limited to 50 edition on rainbow vinyl

“….you get this dissonant guitar ambiance in the distance, but it’s layered with a light strum and a twinkling bit of piano, and in that, it’s as if the whole world stops just for that moment.” Austin Town Hall

“And that tension absolutely lands, with sweetness wrapped around something melancholy and despairing. It’s thoughtful, uneasy listening.” Nordic Music Review

“The new single ‘CCTV’ by Ghosts on TV feels to me like a golden memory whose shine has never faded” Indie Tapes

“While it offers no support to that hostility neither does ‘CCTV’ seek to assuage the angst with anything hollow and vapid” Nordic Music Central

Ghosts on TV 2026 by Aapo Soulanto

In 2020 Ghosts on TV’s debut album “I Am Not Dead, I Am 55 Today” was chosen as the best Nordic album of the year by Nordic Music Review. The record infamously consisted of one 30-minute instrumental piece called ” I Am Not Dead”, and a 7-minute soft epilogue called “I Am 55 Today”. The same year Ghosts on TV signed a record deal with Soliti Recordings. After a collaborative live album with the poet Francis North (ENTROPY, 2022) – their sophomore self-titled studio album came out in 2023. It was Radio Helsinki’s album of the week, and the shoegaze influenced singles got praise in the indie blogosphere of USA, Europe, Japan and New Zealand. The members of Ghosts on TV have also played in bands such as Knife Girl, HENRIK!, moshimoshi and Oakahtoakseh.
