Pink Chameleons release new album Harmony

Harmony arrives on the 31st January 2025

Pink Chameleons release their second long play, Harmony.

Harmony  was crafted at Altai Studios in Helsinki and completed at home. Altai Studios, owned by the band 22-pistepirkko,  is built in the cellar of a very old movie house” Paltsa-Kai Salama, leader of Pink Chameleons tells us. “Harmony leans more into psychedelia than our more punk inspired debut  album, 2021’s Peace and Love. The overall sound of Harmony is dominated by mellotron, hypnotic tremolo and electric sitar along with repetitive bass riffs and percussion”

INITIAL REACTION

“We could say that we haven’t heard a psychedelic album this good in a long time, and it is true. But more than that, it is one of the more satisfying albums we have heard lately.” WYMA

“This is music to dream away to, unique in its atypical instrumentation that is used to optimum effect. Soothing but anything but boring.” Add To Wantlist

“A Hypnotic Psychedelic Journey Through Catchy Hooks and Modern Sonic Experimentation” Rmas

Interview with Paltsa-Kai Salama at Radio Helsinki

“”Wrong Future” is a further example of the band’s deep love of psych-rock’s hypnotic capabilities, but Pink Chameleons thrive with the challenge to make the genre relevant and modern.” Moochila

” …the cool-sounding Draggin’ On”” Christian’s Music Musings

“a fresh sound, lots of rhythm and dark touches.” Setlistmix

Harmony is “a must for all Kula Shaker, latter era Primal Scream and World Of Twist fans.” Janglepophub

“This is dirty, stupefying low-fi indie rock with sounds that twist and escape logic, leading us to an endless and confusingly addictive dream.” Sound & Vision

“That organ is the glue that holds it all together in this altogether warm, fuzzy and fun tune.” (“Sunshine Honey”) Dagger Zine

Selected Press reaction to “Draggin’ On”, “Sunshine Honey”, “Some Sunny Feeling” and “Colors seem to Fade”

““Draggin’ On” features a mesmerizing sound, with an atmospheric and ethereal arrangement, with vocals full of ambience and “surf rock” guitars, it’s a song that will leave you in a musical trance.” Roadie Music

“In this track, the band opts for a raw, robust and strident sound, without leaving aside their exploration of genres such as Shoegaze and Psychedelic Rock. Psychedelia is used brilliantly, moving away from the clichés of the genre and dialoguing with the most strident of rock.” Rmas

“And yes, they are as adept in psychedelia as they are in everything else.” WYMA

“Paltsa-Kai ‘s voice becomes the guiding thread of this sonic journey, making the rawness of the style resonate in an authentic way. It’s a sound that hasn’t been tamed by time, but has found new life in the simplicity of its execution.” Oleada indie

“The track’s structure builds through careful accumulation of elements rather than sudden shifts, creating hypnotic effect that matches its lyrical exploration of circular patterns and repeated behaviours. Salama’s vocals weave through the dense instrumentation while maintaining clarity of delivery and emotional impact.” – B-Side Guys

“This single, hypnotic in its finest forms, is a track that compels repeated plays and encourages you to press all available ‘follow buttons’ to make sure you do not forget the release of the album.” Janglepophub

“The chorus is a jubilant burst of joy—its brightness almost tactile, like sunlight cutting through a dimly lit room.”  Tits upon Tyne

“A vibrant slice fo psych-pop” Last Day Deaf

“It stands out for its dynamic musical narrative and a rhythm that will undoubtedly provoke body movement, full of electronic sounds and textures that give depth to the track.” R más

“Garage, folky and dirty song” Moochila tv

“Sunshine Honey’ seems to be intended as a sort of psych-lite event, more in the way of psych pop and intended perhaps for the younger end of the audience spectrum” Nordic Music Central

“This is the sort of pensive psychedelia that we don’t encounter as often these days, pulling from these sort of mysterious Eastern influences like a slow burning stick of incense” Austin Town Hall

“Creating a western-folk-rock sound” SetlistMX

“It’s a sound that will appeal to people who like The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Ty Segall.” Niche Music

“The Finnish project relied upon California vibes to craft this song, which you’ll immediately see upon the visuals, but you’ll likely hear in the traditional psychedelia coming through your speakers. It’s as about as true to the original style as it comes, but in that, it feels refreshing, as the genre’s been completely bastardized.” Austin Town Hall

“This song is full of texture and vibrancy” Darkus Magazine

“Pink Chameleons piloted by Paltsa-Kai Salama of the Black Lizard band lives up to expectations with their new single” Päivan Biisit

“Mesmerizing with its bass line and extra mojo from the soulful saxophone, this kusari gem is like a slice of California’s flower children’s sun”. Desibeli
