“Amber & Gold” is out via Soliti on the 10th April.
Ghosts on TV present the latest taste from forthcoming album Iridescent – “Amber & Gold” – a soulful song that heightens the bands clear progress yet never forgets their sense of subtle drama and melody.
“Amber & Gold began as a skeletal guitar-piece. Then I pondered should the rhythmic feel of the song lean into slowcore-ish half time or into a livelier, more upbeat direction. Joona, our drummer, latched onto the energetic groove and the overall atmosphere started to feel reminiscent of Talk Talk records, which is why the working -title referenced the band. The song lived as an instrumental for a long time. Otto (bass) penned the lyrics and Ossi (Vocals) shaped the melody!” – Aaro Tirronen, Guitar

“Iridescent represents Ghosts on TV’s most mature and carefully considered vision of pop, art-rock and heavy walls of sound. New territories were conquered through Aaro Tirronen’s love for jangle and prog, Anttoni Hill’s fondness for acoustic minimalism or Ossi Björn’s taste for dramatic indie rock. With everything passing through the so-called “GoTV filter.” While the two previous releases were largely built around the raw live energy of post-rock, the new material was recorded track by track. This also allowed a bigger role in the arrangements and recording for our trusted producer and friend Alec Havinmaa, who works like a seventh member.”

In 2020 Ghosts on TV’s debut album “I Am Not Dead, I Am 55 Today” was chosen as the best Nordic album of the year by Nordic Music Review. The record infamously consisted of one 30-minute instrumental piece called ” I Am Not Dead”, and a 7-minute soft epilogue called “I Am 55 Today”. The same year Ghosts on TV signed a record deal with Soliti Recordings. After a collaborative live album with the poet Francis North (ENTROPY, 2022) – their sophomore self-titled studio album came out in 2023. It was Radio Helsinki’s album of the week, and the shoegaze influenced singles got praise in the indie blogosphere of USA, Europe, Japan and New Zealand. The members of Ghosts on TV have also played in bands such as Knife Girl, HENRIK!, moshimoshi and Oakahtoakseh.
