The twofer single arrives on the 21st Nov. via Soliti
One could say the secret is out of the bag – but Turku’s world famous purveyors of fuzzed out dream pop The New Tigers are working on a new album which will see the light day sometime in 2026. If that news in itself wasn’t exciting enough, we’re very happy to reveal that two new songs from the band arrive this month – “Off The Wall” b/w “Butterfly” releases on the 21st Nov. The New Tigers keep standards high on these new songs (did we expect anything else?) – here’s what they tell us about the tracks
“This is a double A-side single from The New Tigers. After the experimental spoken word of last year’s single “Säbä”, these new songs find the band in their fuzzed-out and atmospheric sides. Both songs will be featured on the album that is about to follow.
“Off the Wall” is the louder song of the two. The vocals are delivered by Valtteri Virtanen. The short C-section can be seen as a tribute to bob hund. The track is the band’s first release to feature the snappy and powerful drumming of Niko Kivikangas, also known from Burning Hearts.
“Butterfly”, on the other hand, doesn’t feature drums or any kind of percussive elements. The track’s atmosphere is created by guitars that crackle like a fireside with touches of e-bow and glockenspiel, and the low notes of an electric organ played by Janne Kauppinen. Appu Jasu is singing.”

Initial Reaction
“…hey embrace a lighter side of guitar pop, though they’re careful to include a driving enthusiasm that bleeds through the distorted riff work. They fill the spaces in between with drifting melodies and charm that make it difficult to pull away from, as if you’d even want to!” Austin Town Hall
“«Off The Wall» functions as a musical reminder that moments of clarity can arrive even when we least expect them, offering a sonic space for optimistic reflection.” Rmas
“It’s good!” Rumba

The New Tigers is a fuzzy pop group from Finland. The band was founded in 2006 in order to play noisy yet melodic freewheeling pop music. Some people have described the band’s sound similar to Yo La Tengo, Jonathan Richman and Teenage Fanclub, yet in the same sentence underlined the band’s quirky originality.
The New Tigers have released three albums with a fourth on the way, and have played live in the UK, Spain, Belgium and Scandinavia, among others. The band has gained a reputation as a fun, adventurous and slightly chaotic live act.
The New Tigers consist of Appu Jasu (vocals/keyboard/guitar), Valtteri Virtanen (vocals/guitar), Janne Kauppinen (bass) and Niko Kivikangas (drums) The band is located in the west coast seaside town of Turku.
