The second album form the mercurial Juppe is out today, 19th Sept.
Juppe releases his 2nd album – Fun! And How To Have It – today. An eclectic mix of indie pop, rock, funk and anything in between with Juppe’s penchant for wry observations on life at their usual high standard.
Juppe tell us of his new album “Having fun* for me is all about allowing yourself to be playful. J. Huizinga and his Homo Ludens probably agree! Letting myself play was really the guiding thought for me through this album. I think this will be the foot I’ll keep putting forward in the future. These sort of “revelations” can easily sound kind of trite, but I think that’s the bedrock you need to build fancier stuff on haha.I suppose no one wants to buy greeting cards filled with Hegel quotes?
*Whether in love, art, games, sport, hieroglyphics, limnology… I think you get the idea.”

INITIAL REACTION
“Fun! And How to Have It is Jupe’s second album. While the first album had a lighter indie rock feel, the new album is bursting with colorful and bouncy rhythm music. If Juppe’s style were to be described using comparisons, it could be a mix of the psychedelic soul of Prince and Sly Stone and American lo-fi rock from three decades ago with a slight John Lennon twist.” HS 4/5
“‘Seasick’ has a mischievous charm woven into its personality, bridging the gap between something lighthearted and yet grounded too. It’s an almost funky track with interlocking riffs which push and pull throughout the track, reflecting the songs themes in ways.” Mix It All Up
“This is a great album. I think this song (“Seasick”) will appeal to fans of Mac DeMarco. I’ve written many times about him being a rare melody maker, so I won’t go into detail here, but he is also noteworthy for being able to write lyrics of a type never heard before, such as the opening line of this song, “Swipe left if Gex from 3DO, Will make all of your toes curl.” Niche Music
“Honestly, I think it’s a very successful proposal. One of the lines I really liked from this song was the following: ” So push me against the wall and tell what you’re into this moment.” This line makes me think a lot about just living in the moment.” Pop Punkers on “Seasick”

“Juppe, the best indie soul in Finland” Rumba
“Juppe bobs and weaves in between the notes, letting his voice crest and fall to maximize the playfulness.” Austin Town Hall
“The underlying synth-played melody could have been taken out of the 1990s British TV children’s series Teletubbies while the overall ambiance of the song is one of a fun band like Haircut 100 or its singer-cum-solo-artist Nick Heyward. And produced by Malcolm McLaren. If that doesn’t pique your interest, nothing will.” Nordic Music Central
“…a sharp blend of lo-fi rock, indie rock and indie pop that balances raw edges with infectious melodies.” Rmas
“The vibrant style that will never let you escape is ready for you” Pop Punkers
“Turn up the volume and let it engulf you in its distinct sound textures.” Setlistmx
“This is quirky indie pop with enough in the way of humour to keep you both interested and smiling.” Bluesbunny
“…an appealing blend of freshness and contained energy.” Oleada Indie
“Juppe has created something that works as both time capsule and present-tense experience, capturing a specific moment while suggesting universal truths about friendship, boredom, and the strange comfort found in shared purposelessness.” B-Side Guys
“Juppe delivers pop that’s both mischievous and moving. True to his trademark—lyrics that are both cynical and tender, driven by a catchy melody—he takes the experience a step further.” Novorama
“Playful and entertaining are the two words I would best use to describe Woozy by Juppe. The song starts and glides along with such ease that you just have to jump up and join in” We Love that Sound
“…it’s like, “Who’s looking forward to receiving a letter saying that they’ve released a new song?”” Niche Music
