The first track from a forthcoming Mumrunner EP is unveiled
Mumrunner return with their first new official material since their well recieved debut from last Spring, Full Blossom EP. Full Blossom and especially lead single Bond not only found favour with bloggers and radio stations, but helped the young band find an audience outside Finnish borders, with releases in Germany and Japan plus a European tour last fall. The first fruits of Mumrunner’s new material (from a forthcoming EP) can be heard in the dream pop tones of new track Shawshank. Mumrunner explain Shawshank’s genesis thus:
“The soundscape of Shawshank is scaled down slightly and distortion is used more sparingly than before. The song is strongly melodic and there’s a lot of interaction between guitars. Shawshank tells a tragic tale of the way people squander their lives. Everything there is to say has been said and sung at quite an early stage, and after an oppressive standstill, the song increases instrumentally bit by bit towards its massive ending.“
Mumrunner’s Shawshank is available now from the following selected digital outlets
iTunes/ Apple Music
Spotify
Deezer
Amazon.com
Google Play Music
Musa24
Initial reaction has been sweet. Shawshank premiered last Friday via Sounds Better With Reverb, with further sharing via Niche Music, Warszawa, Music & Riots, Screaming Guitars, Indie Globe amongst others. Various Artists.de who commneted “Love their unique dreampop shoegaze sound.” whilst Austin Town Hall said “They return today with a great new song, bringing their A game. Those of the dream pop world will surely recognize the way the guitar knifes and dances around the track, creating an atmospheric realm for the listener to sit inside.”
