Teppo, Big Wave Riders “Best Playlist”

here is my best of 2011 playlist

Mattias, Cats on fire “Best/Worst of Finnish Footballers Abroad 2011
Best:
3. Niklas Moisander, AZ Alkmaar.
Although the Dutch first league is nowhere near what it was in the mid-90′s, becoming a captain in one of its top teams must still be regarded as quite an achievement for a Finnish footballer. Niklas Moisander has also proven that he is the one Mixu Paatelainen considers first when contemplating the national team’s defence strategies in the post-Hyypiä era.
2. Roman Eremenko, Rubin Kazan.
The price tag of 13 million euros says something about the reluctancy of the Ukrainian powerhouse Dynamo Kiev to let go of Roman Eremenko to the Russian Premier Liga side Rubin Kazan. The fact that he is practically never injured and always fully committed to the sport is the reason why the younger of the Eremenko brothers, Roman, and not the older, equally talented Alexei, might become a world class player.
1. Teemu Pukki, Shalke 04.
Just the sheer joy of finally seeing a Finnish striker being useful on the pitch propels Pukki to the top of this list. Scoring three goals in two games for HJK against Schalke and subsequently moving to Germany is enough to make Finns dream of an heir to the throne left vacant by Litmanen. Pukki now features regularily with Huntelaar and Raul to make the Schalke attack formation one of the more exciting in the Bundesliga.
Worst:
Mikael Forssell, Leeds United.
Once the greatest striking talent in Finnish football, Forssell has now been twittering from the Hannover 96 substitute bench for three years before making a half-hearted move to Leeds, just to continue with the twittering from outside the squad. If simply being in the club rolls somewhere  constitutes a footballing career, then he probably has one.

Aki,Black Twig “2011 Lists”
Five albums I’ve liked a lot:
Kurt Vile – Smoke Ring For My Halo
Sea Lions – Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sea Lions But Were Afraid To Ask
Real Estate – Days
Cass McCombs – Humor Risk
Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues

Six excellent live shows:
M. Ward @ Tavastia, Helsinki
Swans @ Klubi, Tampere
The New Tigers @ Doris, Tampere
Delay Trees @ Telakka, Tampere
Merries @ Semifinal, Helsinki
Black Lizard & The Liquid Plastic Castles @ Kalasataman Konttiaukio, Helsinki

The Worst of 2011:
This gray, rainy, dark, and snowless December in Finland

Triani, Head Chef, Soliti

Heroes & Heroics : Occupy Movement. Mr Oldham, Callahan, Bejar & Cox. NRGM. An Evening With Soliti Tampere/Helsinki. Regina. Jori Hulkkonen @ Flow. Tottenham Hotspur. Finnish blogging community!!!!! Bike Riding.

Villains : Soini, Cameron and the rise of the right in Europe and anywhere.
